FESTIVAL APPLICATION INFORMATION

  1. It is required to fill the Application Form at this link latest by March 4th, 2020.
    Participation is limited with the quota.
  2. The approved choirs will be asked to pay the participation fee of the festival 600,00 TRY within 7 days after the approval of participation.
    • The participation fee will be transferred to SANSEV (Sanatçılar Sanatseverler Kültür ve Dayanışma Derneği) bank account at Türkiye İş Bank İdealtepe Branch IBAN TR44 0006 4000 0011 1860 0038 99.
    • Participation fee includes digital access to all the performances’ video records in the festival.
    • The choirs must note their Choir Name in the payment order and the invoicing details in the application form.

THE MISSION OF THE FESTIVAL 

To popularize the polyphonic choir music culture in Turkey.

THE AIMS OF THE FESTIVAL

  1. Participating into the studies to develop and enhance the polyphonic choir music in our country.
  2. To provide an atmosphere enabling the exchange of information and social, cultural and occupational integration by bringing the teachers and students of the Polyphony Choir Music Foundations together.
  3. Enabling the meeting of the Choir Music Literature with the public masses.
  4. To integrate the new works of our national composers into the universal polyphony choir music throughout the choirs.
  5. To provide a bridge to the polyphonic music in the world.
  6. To increase and popularize the choir festivals and competitions in our country as well as around the world.

THE RULES OF THE FESTIVAL

  1. The Honorary Composer of this year’s Festival will be announced in November 2019. For the participating choirs, the selection and performance of one of the works composed by the Honorary Composer would be a positive gesture as well as it would give a chance for the Award to be given on the Composer’s name.
  2. All kinds of Choirs (Juniors, Children, Youth, Women, Men, Mix or Vocal Groups) that have an authorized administrator who is responsible for the choir can participate the festival.
  3. Participating choirs could only perform polyphonic works with or without accompaniment.
  4. The duration of the performances of the choirs will be minimum 10 and maximum 15 minutes. The number of the works to be performed during this period depends on the capacity and willingness of the choirs. The strict accordance to time limits is expected.
  5. Festival Committee will review the repertoire and has the right to request the choir to rearrange the repertoire to meet the time constraint.
  6. The repertoire of the choirs must be chosen from universal and national polyphonic works.
  7. The musical instruments other than piano will be provided by the choirs themselves.
  8. The choirs must strictly follow the provided time-schedules, given during their rehearsals and performances.
  9. The choirs MUST NOT use flags, signs, logos or slogans, wear slogan printed clothes symbolizing political views.
  10. If present, choirs can exhibit their own logo, sign or signal clothes during their performances. (Subject to the approval of the Festival Administration

NEW IN THE FESTIVAL

Performance Feedback Sessions

 The choirmasters of the choirs will be able to receive feedback from festival jury about their performances in the first session break after their performances. Only the choirmasters who selected the related option in the application form will be able to attend these sessions.

 

These sessions will be a good opportunity for choirs to improve their performances.

  • Children Ages 6 – 14
  • Youth Ages 12 – 24
  • Women Ages 16+
  • Men Ages 16+
  • Mixed No age limit
  • Vocal Group 4 – 12 people (No age limit)

 

Note: These categories and age limits has been determined to encourage the participation based on the realities of Turkey.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  3. Should the accepted choir decides to quit after the festival programme is announced, the participation fee will not be refunded.
  4. The communication information and e-mail address to be filled in the application form should be exact, accurate and up-to-date.
  5. The festival will be held at İstanbul Maltepe Belediyesi – Türkan Saylan Kültür Merkezi Kardelen-1 hall between May 7-8-9-10, 2020.
  6. The travel, hotel and transport costs will be borne by the choirs. Festival Administration will recommend alternatives regarding hotels, guesthouses and restaurants upon request.
  7. The copyrights of all of the activities held during the Sansev 8th İstanbul International Polyphonic Choirs Festival belongs to SANSEV Association. Any material cannot be used without prior approval by SANSEV.

ENCOURAGEMENT AWARDS OF THE FESTIVAL

    1. All of the choir members and choirmasters will be given a Participation Certificate presented by a panel of teachers, artists, Orchestra Conductors, Choirmasters and music experts.
    2. Participating choirs will be evaluated only on the following criteria without being compared against each other;

    • Polyphonic Folk Music interpretation
    • Diction, articulation, comprehensibility
    • Homogenity
    • Intonation
    • Musicality
    • Programme diversity
    • Stage Command and Aesthetics
    • Choir – Master synchronization
    • Choir – Instrument synchronization
    • Choir- Solo synchronization
    • Nevit KODALLI works interpretation
    • Sponsor awards

    (Note: Award categories are subject to change by the Festival Administration.)

CLOSING OF THE FESTIVAL

  1. A closing ceremony will be organized at the last day of the festival.
  2. It is mandatory for the choir representatives to attend the closing ceremony
